2026: The Year I Come Back To The Surface

I’m very good at keeping my head down and disappearing into client work.

Once a project is finished, I tend to close the file, send everything over, and move straight on to the next task. That’s no bad thing and I’m incredibly grateful to be busy enough for that to be the case. But the problem is… that means there’s a lot of work I’m really proud of that I’ve never taken the time to talk about.

Which is ironic, really — a classic marketer neglecting their own marketing.

So I’m calling 2026 the year I come back to the surface — and this blog post holds me accountable for it!

Catching Up on My Case Studies

Right now, my case studies are about a year behind. Which is slightly embarrassing, considering what I do for a living.

Over the past 12 months I’ve worked on some great projects, but instead of documenting them properly, I just cracked on with the next deadline. The result is a body of work that exists… but isn’t available for prospective clients to see.

This year, I want to fix that by properly catching up on my case studies and sharing more of the thinking behind the work, not just the finished visuals.

This isn’t about shouting louder or posting for the sake of it. It’s just about doing a better job of showing the work I already do, allowing myself space to celebrate successes and to stop letting projects quietly disappear once they’re done.

Making It Part of the Process

It’s all well and good me catching up now, but what’s going to change going forwards to make this actually happen in the future?

Instead of treating case studies as something I’ll “do when I have some down time” (How naive of me to think that would ever be a thing!), I’m going to start scheduling time at the end of each project to write it up properly — while everything’s still fresh and the thinking is still clear.

That way, case studies stop being a forgotten job and just become part of finishing a project, like handover files or final invoices.

Nothing fancy — just doing what I should’ve been doing all along and actually following through on sharing my wins in 2026.
